Associate Prof. Amr Sayed Hassan Abdallah

Dr. Amr Abdallah is Associate Professor in Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, Egypt. Dr. Abdallah was awarded his Ph.D. in Feb. 2014 from Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, Egypt join with Tohoku University, Japan. Along with his PhD studies, he was a researcher in Dept. of Architecture and Building Science, Laboratory of Building Environmental Engineering, Tohoku University, Japan. In 2012, he was awarded Professional Leader for Sustainable Environment (PLSE) by the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University, Japan. He participates in teaching in Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (Aswan branches) different module and courses as apart time.

Dr. Abdallah contributed in production of Electronic course named “Study for Climate and environment course’ in 2018 and spread the culture of E-learning. He established international cooperation between Assiut University (Dr. Amr Sayed) and German partners (Prof. Dr. Sahar Sodoudi, FU Berlin) for supporting education for postgraduate studies and establish “laboratory for Environmental and Energy Research”-Dec 2017 in Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University. He participates in many faculty development committees, such as the Laboratory and Scientific Equipment Committee. He works as a coordinator for Quality Assurance Unit in "Interior Design" Program Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, since 2015-10-01 To 2017-01-30. Also, he works as a coordinator for Quality Assurance Unit in Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, since October 2016 to Sept. 2019.  He achieved three research funds from Science and Technology Development Fund, Egypt No. 10255 (March 2015 to May 2016), 30067 (Sept. 2019 to April 2021) and 45850 (accepted Aug. 2021) and his role is Pi for the three projects. The third one is established a Center of Excellence for Urban Governance of Unplanned Areas at Assiut University, Project No. 45850 (Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, Associate Principal Investigator) in order to develop social, economic and digital models for unplanned areas in relation to Egypt’s Vision for sustainable urban development 2030 and a decent life initiative. He established an authorized student branch of ASHRAE in Assiut University in Jan. 2018 for the advancing the arts and science of HVAC&R to serve humanity and promote sustainable world. He has been awarded 3rd place for breaking the wall of “High Energy Consumption” at the falling walls Lab 2016 Cairo, organized by German Science Center Cairo (DWZ Kairo). Also, he has been awarded the best research paper for faculty of Engineering, Assiut University.

He published online book chapter with title “New Passive Cooling as a Technique for Hot Arid Climate”, Energy Systems and Environment, ISBN: 978-1-78923-711-5,Intech open, 2018. Also, he published book with title; “Fundamentals of environmental control and energy saving in architecture and the built environment”, ISBN: 978-977-726-156-2, Darelkotbel3lmaia, 2016. He participate in established new post graduate courses with title Sustainable energy in building and teach Ph.D students fundamental of energy conservation and sustainability with integration of different simulation softwares such as ENVI-met, Design Builder and Ecotech.

Over his career, Abdallah has successfully maintained a balance of research, teaching, students’ supervision (Master and Ph.D students) and scientific activities. Abdallah had participated in several conferences, attended workshops and training courses and colloquiums in Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Germany, Kuwait, Saudi, Turkey and Egypt. he had widely published in different national and international conferences as well as academic journals. To date he published more than twenty peer reviewed journal and conference papers. he was part of the organizing committee of the Comfort At The Extremes, CATE’21, OMAN 2021,  International Scientific Committee member of IAQVEC 2016 in Korea, 9th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality Ventilation & Energy Conservation In Buildings, italy and other international conferences.  Abdallah is also a member of the editorial of Frontiers for built environment and is regularly asked to review articles for top journals including Journal of Energy and Building, Journal of Building Engineering, Renewable energy.
